This antique Spanish skirt is one of those rare vintage finds that completely transports you to another era. Likely once used as a handmade underskirt, it carries all the charm and history of a bygone time. With delicate hand embroidery, lace-trimmed edges, and a tie waist, it's a beautifully made piece that was clearly crafted with care.
When I first found it, I was struck by how beautiful and high quality the cotton felt—like something out of a countryside daydream. I styled it simply as a skirt on its own, and it gave instant cottagecore romantic energy.
There are some visible age spots throughout (please see photos), but I think that just adds to its authentic character—this is a garment that’s truly lived. Because of its age and handmade nature, I believe it was originally designed to be worn as a petticoat, but today it doubles perfectly as a breezy summer skirt or layering piece over slips, swimwear, or even jeans for a unique modern twist.
